Chronic Laryngitis
In laryngitis, the laryngeal mucous membrane is swollen, congested and coated with mucus. Chronic laryngitis occurs as a result of repeated attacks of acute laryngitis, excessive use of the voice, especially in dusty atmospheres, heavy smoking, breathing from the mouth and from the obstruction of nasal sinuses. Symptoms include hoarseness, loss of voice, irritation of the throat and spasmodic cough.
Ayurvedic treatment involves certain therapies with the addition of antibiotic, blood and lymph cleansing herbs. Sometimes, demulcent herbs are prescribed too.
