Jivananda
lifestyle regimen includes simple routines and
practices to usher in perpetual happiness into our
lives. It helps people in the busy life of today to
lead a natural life and conduct themselves
effortlessly through the maze of life’s variables
and constants.
Jivananda,
based on the jewels of ancient Indian tradition and
philosophies, is a simple yet effective lifestyle
regimen for people who are completely occupied with
their daily chores. An original conception by Dr.
Partap Chauhan, Jivananda has been created to
usher perpetual and genuine happiness into our
lives. In Sanskrit, Jiva means ‘soul’ and
Ananda means ‘bliss’. Therefore, Jivananda
signifies the ‘bliss of the soul’.
Ayurveda has answers to problems in all the three
components of life—sensual (body), emotional (mind)
and spiritual (soul). Jivananda combines
these responses of Ayurveda towards life into one
harmonical regimen that can be followed by one and
all, without having to take a chunk of time out of
their busy life schedule. It is for helping people
in conducting themselves effortlessly through the
maze of life’s variables and constants,
strengthening the ability to guide them along a
chosen path of self-empowerment of body, mind and
soul.
The
program includes routines and practices that are
simple and convenient to incorporate in people’s
schedule. Through Jivananda, men and women
are guided on how to prepare their bodies and minds
for the day in the most optimum manner. Breathing
exercises (Pranayama), suggested in the
Jivananda regimen, help revitalise people by
facilitating the energy of the air (Prana) in
their bodies. Some simple yet comprehensive yoga
postures (Hatha yoga) help their bodies
become supple, strong and healthy. Guidelines
included in Jivananda also help people choose
the dietary lifestyle appropriate to their
body-types as individuals.
Jivananda can be practised almost anywhere,
anytime, and under many diverse conditions and
circumstances, like cleaning teeth, driving car,
travelling in a bus, train or even in an aeroplane.
There is no need to take out a separate time slab
for practicing Jivananda. The principles of
Jivananda can be followed by men and women,
children and adults alike. There are no hard and
fast rules on the timings
of performing Jivananda—mornings, afternoons,
evenings or nights are all
possible timings for the practice of Jivananda.
This program uses a balanced and holistic approach
that is easy, comfortable and entirely convenient.
It teaches people in the busy life of today to lead
a natural life. While living a natural life one can
experience all the benefits of flowing with the
powerfully
creative energy force, rather than
resisting it, which many do, unconsciously. When one lives a life in accord with natural laws, so much
more can be achieved by doing less. This is the
supreme style of living.
And finally, the essence of Jivananda lies in
the fact that, although it is based on a system
thousands of years old and combines the concepts of
yoga, Ayurveda and Pranayama, it is
designed in a manner that busy, working people of
the modern world can put into practice and reap the
benefits of perpetual joy.
Jivananda Meditation
One of the most important aspects of the
Jivananda regimen is the Jivananda
Meditation which soothes and energises the body,
mind, senses and the soul for the whole day. It is
also a superb tool to fight stress and increase
memory and concentration. Co-propounded by Dr.
Partap Chauhan and Dr. Satya Narayana Dasa, the
Jivananda Meditation involves bringing your
awareness into the heart area and visualising a tiny
Drop of Love in the heart that spreads in all
directions. The meditation entails tracing the
outward and then the inward journey of the Drop of
Love from the heart out into the surrounding and
back.
